Logos Wifi-Alliance-Logo 80Px-1In the second show of the inaugural series, I interview the head of the Wi-Fi Alliance: The trade group controls one of the most consistent and powerful marks in the electronics and computing industry. Wi-Fi means something, and despite the fact that the group is entirely comprised of and controlled by companies and industry professionals, the organization as a whole has withstood some tough challenges from proprietary extensions to certified Wi-Fi and the IEEE's lag time on approving the security overhaul now branded WPA and WPA2.

Hanzlik took the position of managing director of the Wi-Fi Alliance in 2003, and he's not afraid to speak out on issues ranging from the problems with deploying Draft N (802.11n pre-ratification) hardware, concerns over metropolitan-scale networks, and confusion in the marketplace over too many standards bundled into the Wi-Fi name.
