Amended from Broadband Reports:
Providers could write off 100% of next-gen investment
The freshly sponsored "Broadband Internet Access Act of 2005"
aims to increase broadband deployment by allowing a provider to expense
50% of current-gen investment, and 100% of next-generation technology
provided there's a 10% market penetration (Internet News).
The problem however hasn't been a lack of incentives, it has often been
a lack of enforcement when deployment targets aren't met. See Senator
Rockefeller's press release.
