Welcome to WISP Centric
You might be wondering who we
are. The WISP Centric Group started with the WISP Directory website back in mid-2002.
By mid-2004, the Directory site expanded into the four current WISP Centric sites:
- Start a WISP - a resource for both new and established WISPs that offers a collaborative environment in a "question and answer"-type format. Each piece of content is organized in various categories for easy retrieval purposes. One to two pieces of content are added to the site daily. The site also includes a discussion forum as well as an image/drawing gallery.
- WISP Directory - a global directory of WISPs and related organizations. The site receives one to two submittals per day and allows end-user reviews and rating. WISPs are welcome to submit their organizations to the Directory at no charge.
- WISP Classifieds - A categorized resource where WISPs may submit their private-party ads at no charge. The site also includes a location for industry employment opportunities.
We believe in collaborative
environments which is why you'll see most of our sites allow user input
and interaction. We believe the only way the WISP industry will
advance is with continuous growth and adaption. We believe this is
possible with the help of our site visitors.
The time
spent on this site is pretty much volunteered. We're extremely
thankful and grateful to those that have provided us with input,
criticism, advice, etc. over the years and look forward to our
continued existance. If you would like to volunteer to help run the
site, please don't hesitate to drop us a line.
We
additionally believe in partnering with groups and organizations that
share our vision of advancing the community. Feel free to contact us
if you represent an organization that may offer a synergous
relationship with WISP Centric.
If you would like to advertise on the WISP Centric Group network, please feel free to submit your interest via our advertising inquiry form.
Our founder
Kory Mohr, WISP Centric's founder, ran Frontier Broadband in Richmond, Virginia prior to selling it
to his business partners in 2001. Kory learned a lot from colleagues,
friends and counterparts and wanted to continue to provide a way for
WISPs to collaborate and discuss their operations with others within
the industry. The WISP Centric Group is his way of saying "thanks" to
those that helped him when he needed it.
Kory also moderated the WISP forum
on BroadbandReports.com from '99 to '03. You'll find lots of
experience there from both seasoned WISP veterans and newly established
organizations as well. Kory also ran the former Richmond Free Wireless free network.
