"That's right, Silicon Valley is trying to keep up with the Bengaluru Joneses," jokes Salon. Silicon Valley Metro Connect, a consortium including IBM and Cisco, recently announced plans for an ambitious Wi-Fi network covering 38 cities across 1,500 square miles. Silicon Valley's solution will be Wi-Fi not Wimax - but the backbone will support an upgrade to Wimax, according to IBM.
