Amended from Broadband Wireless:
The broadband wireless sub-11 GHz band market grew by 30 percent from 2003 to 2004, according to a new report from Maravedis Inc.
However, the market promises to see increasing competition over the
next five years as mobile wireless technologies begin to offer similar
data speeds as fixed wireless systems.
"Wireless broadband is clearly at a crossroads," stated Robert Syputa,
senior analyst at Maravedis. "Convergence is taking place between the
technology road maps of WiMAX/802.16 and advanced 3GPP, 3.5G-4G
cellular systems. These technologies are on a collision course and will
provide similar bandwidth and significant market overlap by 2010."
The report, in its third edition, is coauthored by Syputa and Adlane
Fellah, principal researcher and founder of Maravedis. It is currently
available from Maravedis, titled "WiMAX and Broadband Wireless (Sub-11
GHz) Worldwide Market Analysis and Trends 2005-2010."
